our border collie males

Our dogs are our partners and our family. Without them we could not do what we do. They are key members of the ranch and we are grateful to each of them. When moving pairs on thousands of acres of difficult country, each of our dogs are absolutely priceless!
They often take the place of several cowboys! Our dogs are used daily to move pairs, yearlings and bulls. They each have unique personalities,
strengths and weaknesses. We believe that practice makes perfect, but that isn't all you need. You must start with a dog that has the natural desire and instinct to work. The three main things we look for in a young dog are brains, natural instinct and a lot of bite when needed! As important as working ability is, each of our dogs must also be able to be a part of our family! Our three young boys crawl all over our dogs and we expect each of our dogs to be friendly, loving and patient with children, other dogs  and playing in the yard with family and friends. A difference in our breeding philosophy is that we do not own just "breeding dogs". All of our dogs, males and females are proven working
dogs before we ever consider breeding them. All of our dogs are worked almost daily on cattle, sheep and goats and are constantly around our
young children and family. We take great pride in our dogs and the dogs we produce. We strive to produce only useful, healthy, intelligent,
hard-working Border Collies that are also wonderful family members!

 Levi's Trial Accomplishments

LEVI'S PHOTO ALBUM
And mucOh Levi! Where do we even start? Levi is one of the most incredible and intelligent dogs we have ever owned! Definitely a once in a lifetime type of dog! He is our absolute GO-TO DOG on the ranch; he works cattle, trains puppies, and gathers in lost goats - you name it,  he will do it! He will do ANYTHING you ask of him. He bites both ends and has strong herding instinct, balance, eye and creep. Levi is incredibly precise and deliberate in every move he makes and is honest, true, and completely devoted. His personality is very calm and even tempered and he NEVER loses composure. He is an EXCELLENT trial dog and handles pressure and any situation with ease! He is always the dog we go to whenever Steve needs something done and doesn't want to worry about anything going wrong!  He is athletic and quick and will obey every command exactly! He will work all day long and is
intense, but calm and steady at the same time. He is one handsome boy and his blue eye will look into your soul! He gets along well with everybody and is happiest when he can go where ever Steve goes! We like to call him Steve's shadow!
He also fancies himself a lap dog when given the opportunity! Levi is patient and loving to everyone he comes into contact with, especially children! And because of his patient and kind demeanor, he is often the "puppy trainer" and "puppy babysitter" too!

PEDIGREE

Tex is a TREMENDOUS son of our Levi and Raine and is EVERYTHING we could have hoped for and MORE! Excuse us if we tend to gush a little bit when we talk about Tex! He is the perfect combination of his parents; Levi's intelligence, smoothness and style with his moms tenacity, strength and fearlessness. He works with a maturity, intensity and intelligence beyond his years. He is TOUGH, fearless and classy! He moves well, watches and responds to stock well, and bites hard and clean. He will work both ends and does not back down. Tex is extremely intelligent and easy to work with but is a very high drive, high stamina dog. He always has working on the brain!  He is quickly becoming a major asset to the ranch and we look forward to his blossoming trial career as well! We really cannot say enough about this dog! He is a happy, loving dog that just wants attention from whoever is around him!

Stan is the rising star out of our Sugar. He has matured into a bright, athletic, and intense working dog. He is quiet, focused, and methodical, but so funny and full of personality at the same time! He reminds us so much of his uncle Levi but also has a fun goofball side that is sometimes unexpected from his calm and serious demeanor. He reads stock well, isn't afraid to bite and will stop even the most determined cow. He also works sheep beautifully and with natural feel.
Steve and Stan were instant best friends and work well together. Stan keeps us laughing and on our toes and we have come to rely more and more heavily on him around the ranch as well as in the National trialing circuit.

Jak Photo Album

Jak is a son of our Levi and Pearl. He is Steve's MSSA Futurity and Nursery Dog for the 2018-2019 trial season. He is STRONG when he needs to be but is showing incredible restraint and control on stock. He and Steve share a special connection and Jak just gets better every day! He reminds us so much of Levi in so many ways but has the GRIT and strength of his mother as well!
Aside from being handsome and being an incredible working dog around our place - Jack has a calm, loving disposition and thinks that everyone loves him as much as he loves everyone else!

He is working hard daily around the ranch on both sheep and cattle and only gets better, quicker and stronger. He reads stock well, has a clean bite on both ends, and uses a lot of style on everything he works.
On top of all those brains and athleticism- he is one handsome boy and a total lover! He does great with other dogs - big or small and LOVES people! Watch out for him on the Trial circuit next year also! He will be one of Steve's Nursery and MSSA Futurity dogs for next year!
